  1. An anonymous person has posted a comment here on our site attempting to debunk the plausibility of our Guinness World records run. I am currently doing research and have contacted the organizers in Wrentham regarding the Guinness Record. If I have falsely stated the leagues attempt to actually be in the book, it is because I was ill informed. Stay tuned. A link to the current record is as follows http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/adjudications/071016_longest_baseball_marathon.aspx . I do have to wonder why anyone would try to debunk a nine year olds ambition. But, truth should alwways prevail; so stay tuned. Donations DO go to worthy charities and Tommy WILL get to meet Curt Schilling and the little league IS trying to beat the time of the current longest baseball game. But whether the kids can get in the book or not remains to be seen. They are still doing a fun and worthy event for a good cause regardless.

  2. The response I got from one of the coordinators of the event:

There are several ways to set a Guiness Record. The group in St. Louis paid several thousand dollars for the gentleman who wrote this piece to attend their event. That is one of the revenue sources for Guiness. Someone flies over from England to be present. The other way is to apply, as we did, describing the record we are going to set or break, and then provide documentation that we did achieve what we set out to achieve. They take a newspaper reporter, a TV reporter, a town official etc...account of the event for documentation. Guiness then certifies from the accounts given to them that a record has been set. It is basically a free way to set or break a record. - Jim Lucas
