Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! First, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for Kaitlin for Bridgewater MVP. We really rallied today. If you haven't voted, go to the link on the lower right of this site under "Links to Sites We Love," click on "Bridgewater State" and cast your vote for Kaitlin Lamothe.

Second, ok, it's official, but I do think there was some double dipping in the voting!! Maegan's team is the official winner of the pumpkin carving contest with 39% of the votes, Tommy's team came in second and Hannah and Grayson were tied for third.
We had a wonderful Halloween. Coach Greenberg did a fabulous job directing a "trick or treating" extravaganza through one of the largest neighborhoods in Wrentham. He took on the "no girl left behind" militant approach. There were few houses missed and no one was lost! See the picture of Coach with his "Wrock Stars" above.

Tommy met up with some of his Pal's and Cheryl Dittrich stole him away for the evening. In a couple of years he may have been unwilling to leave a pack of a dozen older girls, but this year he was thrilled to take off with his buddies. See the picture of his motley crew below.

Grayson LOVED Halloween. I mean, what's not to love! Everywhere you go, they just give you candy! He was actually still pointing at houses and wanting to continue the journey after two hours of pounding the pavement. The lion costume is compliments of the Tupper family. Thank you!

Maegan was "spent" by the end of the evening and was actually asking to go home. I'm not sure Murphy enjoyed the chaos. However, all in all, it was one of the best Halloweens so far, but we missed our usual trick or treat buddies, the Burke family.

Happy Halloween everyone!

No pics of Addisyn and Grayson together this year because Addisyn is apparently afraid of lions...

Congratulations Hannah

Congratulations to Hannah for taking 2nd place in the "vehicles" category in the fourth grade Wrentham Elementary Pumpkin decorating contest with "Cinderella's Coach."
Paul and Hannah worked super hard on the pumpkin. How G.I. Joe the '80's rock star got a hold of the reins, we'll never know. You have to wonder if they ever made it to the ball!! Good work Hannah and Daddy!

Congratulations Kaitlin

My sister Kaitlin is currently studying at Bridgewater State College to become a teacher. She started her college career at Syracuse where she played on the soccer team there. She has continued her soccer career at Bridgewater and has been named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week more than once, the MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week multiple times, she also ranks in the top ten nationally for D3 in points and goals scored, and today we learned she has been named to the ESPN All-Academic Team!! Congratulations Kaitlin!

More Flaherty family fun...(& a little "PG" fun)!

Saturday 10/25, we attended the Fruci/Sebio annual Halloween party. It's great that there are so many fun people to let loose and just be silly with for an evening. And, an opportunity to dance is always overdue and we made the most of it. Paul went as our investments, (which are down the toilette). Apparently so are Craig Mello the convict's investments... Although the husbands wore the orange jump suits, based on the behavior of those three crazy cops, (Meg Mello, Kim Burke and Diane Guenther), I'm not sure who the real trouble makers are!
Rebecca and Kevin win for originality, (not officially - but in my book), with the hand made owl and Tootsie Pop. Kevin got far too much enjoyment out of the inhibition of being a great big fat man/owl though! It was a good time all around and there are too many fun pictures to post them all!

On Sunday October, 26th we spent the day with the Flaherty family celebrating the baptism of Connor Jonathan Flaherty. He is a beautiful, sweet little baby and the day was a perfect fall day. We enjoyed the time with siblings and cousins.

Tommy also played his final Football game today. The team finished the season victorious against Ashland/Hopkinton 7-2. Tommy got some time at QB, which although he loves, the responsibility makes him very nervous! He is sad to see the season end. Not only did he love playing football, he really enjoyed his teammates. It has been a true pleasure, as a parent, to watch Tommy doing something that he really loves. During the season he earned the nickname "Tank," which he is very proud of. The overall record of Mites 1 was 4-3-1. KAKP!!!

Welcome to the Flaherty Family website!

I got the idea from a couple friends who are blogging about pregnancies and life in Hong Kong... that a Flaherty Family website would be a great organizational and communicating tool for our family and friends. My intent is to organize all of the sports links to schedules, (most of which are available on the right side of this blog already). I also hope to post upcoming events, pictures and let you know what we have going on in our lives. The kids, Paul and I will all add blogs and content to the site. I hope you find the site helpful and fun.

Sunday 10/19 we had our second annual pumpkin carving contest with optional costume for the participants. The Lacottbarnvaughn crew, as I have dubbed them, were all present along with the Reiner family. We had a blast. I think the consensus, (according to Rebecca who you must note was part of said team), Maegan's team was the contest winner with the ghost in the window carving. Maegan's team was made up of Kristy, Rebecca, Maegan & Logan. They left with bragging rights and were absolutely not allowed to take their pumpkin! But let's make it official. Vote in my "best pumpkin" poll below. Happy Haunting!
Love to all,
Carolyn
