Declarations of a proud Mom...

Report cards have been distributed and teacher conferences held and I am proud to report everyone is doing really well.

Grayson is loving pre-school and making lots of friends. He looks forward to going to school. Thanks in large part to the leap frog letter factory DVD loaned to us by the Schmitt family; he is getting quite good at letter recognition and sounds.

Maegan is rapidly progressing in her reading abilities and is keeping up well with the curriculum. She has gotten 100% on nearly every math and spelling test she has taken. She's still difficult to get organized and often misses the school bus, but she marches to her own beat and we love her just the way she is!

Tommy got a report card to be proud of with a healthy mix of A's and B's. His teacher says he is a joy in class (minus a little too much chatting - no idea where he gets that from!!). He is a social leader for his peers and often called to illustrate math problem solving for the whole class. He is starting to become a more avid reader and is overall a great student.

Hannah's report card was amazing. She scored all A's including three A+ scores. We are very proud of her academic determination. She is a hard worker and it clearly pays off. She works very independently and is able to manage her time and plan assignments accordingly. A skill I'm sure I didn't truly develop until AFTER college.

Paul and I have much to be thankful for. We are blessed with four healthy, happy and high achieving children and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them!!

Hock Tournament Champions

After spotting our season 2 loses right off the bat, this team went 8-1 over the next 9 games to finish at 8-3, including a BIG W in the Tournament Finals against a gritty Stoughton team. These boys (and coaches) persevered all year. The defense was outstanding (all 8 wins were shutouts, not counting the intentional safety we - the offense - took in the final seconds of the Championship game) and the offense found a way to get it done when they needed to. Great group of boys, coaches and parents.

Camp Bournedale

Hannah spent last week at Camp Bournedale with the entire sixth grade class from Wrentham Elementary. Here is a note I got from a parent chaperon that spent a night in Hannah's Cabin:

"Thought I'd drop you a quick note to let you know that Hannah was doing great. She was definitely a leader in their cabin and made sure the girls kept to their shower schedules and lights out at 10 pm. She truly made my job very easy and was a big help! She went to sleep by 10:30, so was first one up - 6:30, in the shower by 6:45 and out the door to the rec center by 7:30. She kept me company this morning while all the other girls woke up and took their time getting ready (some were up much later last night). I enjoyed hearing about books she has read :) I gave her your note and she wrote you one back, but I am heading to the cape, so will not have time to get it to you.

However, it reads "Mom, weather been wet too! miss you! I love you mom. I do have many adventures and pictures! Love, Hannah""

Thought this was very funny and very Hannah... I hope the other girls appreciate her leadership skills as much as the chaperons do!!

10 Things I am proud of...

10. My lengthy attention span
9. All three of my well educated, well accomplished beautiful sisters and their spouses.
8. Parents who have not just overcome obstacles, but have built an amazingly successful marriage, family, and achieved financially what I can't yet comprehend doing myself.
7. 12 years of fidelity in the institution of marriage through all it's ups and downs.
6. Tommy's tenacious determination and natural kindness, intelligence and athletic ability (congrats on making A team basketball... one of 10 out of over 50 boys who tried out :)
5. Hannah's enthusiasm, passion, leadership and her belief that she can change the world (my little environmentalist).
4. Maegan's free spirit, (which consistently pushes me to re-define being a nurturing parent).
3. Grayson... still a work in progress; but already a masterpiece.
2. Friendships that have lasted decades.
1. That no matter how far I bend and how many times I've broken, I keep coming back for more and trying to get it right.

God bless every single day we have something to be proud of...

A two year old's aspirations...

One morning this week, Grayson came into bed with us to snuggle. As we were waking up and chatting he told me that when he grows up he is either going to be a garbage man or a pirate on a boat. I asked if I could come on the boat with him if he was a pirate and he said I could, but I wouldn't have a bed. He told me I'd have to sleep on the floor but that he would still cuddle with me in the morning :)
Welcome Adeline Rita Flaherty and congratulations to Jessie, Ian and Chaselyn. Adeliene was born 3/31/2010 7lbs, 5 ounces and 20 inches long. Mom & Dad look great and big sister has been reported to be in love with her little sister. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit and hold Adeliene for a while and she is truly adorable! Thanks to Andy for setting up daycare in the hospital waiting room while I got my baby fix.
